Modeling Notes

1. To build DD-376 Cushing you will need a KOBO-HIRYU USS Drayton, Bureau of Small Warships (Out Of Production) used to make one to but unfortunately this company has closed it's doors. A big loss for the ship modeling community), or Classic Warships USN Mahan Class Destroyer, (currently OOP, with a possible upgrade and re-release). A new company called Midship Models has a Mahan in the works, and the Russian company Combrig should be bringing one to the market real soon..

2. To build DD-459 Laffey you will need a Pit-Road USS Benson or USS Caldwell Benson Class Destroyer. Other kits that will work are those of KOBO-HIRYU, Bureau of Small Warships (OOP), Classic Warships, (currently OOP) .

3. To build DD-407 Sterrett you will need a KOBO-HIRYU, Bureau of Small Warships (OOP), or Classic Warships USN Benham Class Destroyer  (currently OOP, with a possible upgrade and re-release). A new company called Midship Models has a Benham in the works.

4. To build DD-450 O'Bannon you can use Tamiya's 1:700 Fletcher this kit is ideal as it represents an early war Fletcher,  or Skywave 1/700 Fletcher class DD can be used with some surgery to backdate it. Bureau of Small Warships (OOP) also used to make a nice Fletcher class DD.

5. To build CL-51 USS Atlanta you can use the DML/Dragon kit (same as the the Skywave 1/700 kit) or the old Matchbox San Diego kit.

6. To build CA-38 USS San Francisco you have quite a few choices among them are the Waveline USS San Francisco. Naval Works did a 1942 San Francisco as did Jim Shirley productions.

7. To build CA-33 USS Portland you can use the Classic Warships 1/700 resin kit of the Portland as she was fitted in 42 or the old Matchbox USS Indianapolis 1/700 kit (sister ship to Portland) if you prefer plastic and don't mind rebuilding the superstructure.

8. To build CL-50 USS Helena you will need to get Classic Warships "excellent" USS Helena kit

9. To build CL-52 Juneau you can use the DML/Dragon kit (same as the the Skywave 1/700 kit) or the old Matchbox kit.

10. To build DD-483 Aaron Ward you will need a Pit-Road USS Monssen or Livermoore Destroyer kit. KOBO-HIRYU, Bureau of Small Warships (OOP), and Classic Warships, (currently OOP) all used to make this kit.

11. To build DD-599 Barton you will need a Pit-Road USS Benson or USS Caldwell Benson Class Destroyer. Other kits that will work are those of KOBO-HIRYU, Bureau of Small Warships (OOP), Classic Warships, (currently OOP) .

12. To build DD-436 Monssen you will need a Pit-Road USS Monssen or Livermoore Destroyer kit.  KOBO-HIRYU, Bureau of Small Warships (OOP), Classic Warships, (currently OOP) will also work.

13. To build DD-445 Fletcher you can use Tamiya's 1:700 Fletcher this kit is ideal as it represents an early war Fletcher, or Skywave's 1/700 Fletcher class DD can be used with some surgery to backdate it. Bureau of Small Warships (OOP) also used to make a nice Fletcher class DD.
