Skywave 1/700
WW2 US Navy/Royal Navy Landing craft

Reviewed by Timothy Dike
Skywave now under the Pit-Road name produced this kit years ago and at the time it was state of the art in waterline. It is now out of production but I still see it on E-bay or at swap meets. This is one of those kits that really got me hooked on 1/700 waterline. While I had many battleships and carriers, it was really cool to be able to have an entire landing force.
There are two identical sprues in each kit with the top and bottom shown in the image on the right. In this set you get two each of:
  • LSM Landing Ship Mechanized
  • LCI Landing Craft Infantry
  • LCT Landing Craft Tank
  • LCT(R) Landing Craft Tank Rocket equipped version
The parts are well molded and fairly detailed, but all represent rather generic landing craft. There is a canvas cover for the LCT if you wish to cover yours.

The decal set includes flags of the US and England are included. Hull numbers are provided for a number of LCI and LSM's.

The instructions are printed on the back of the box and while they are in Japanese, the pictures are enough to show how it goes together.

A nice little kit, a good choice for those wanting to do a diorama with some generic landing craft. But if you are concerned with accuracy, I would go with some of the resin kits that have come out since these were made.
