Naval Works 1/700 C3 Cargo Ship
Here's a look back at one of the classic kits from yesterday. Naval Works was one of the original producers of resin kits, they are now gone, but some of the key players are still around producing kits under other names.

This kit represents the C3 type cargo ship, the big brother to the C2 type such as the Pitroad USS Bootes. These were a longer more spacious version of the former.

The hull on my kit was pretty well molded and there were no noticeable defects. The deck winches are a little undefined but acceptable for 700 scale. A nice touch was the mast locating holes cast in.
The superstructure parts moded on resin wafers that are a little on the thick side. Also the mast top bracing will have to be carefully sanded to remove the excess resin in the openings. Extra styrene plastic is included to fabricate the masts.
The instructions are OK with a plan and elevation view on one side. An exploded view on the other side gives you a pretty good guide to install all the parts. Missing is a rigging guide to help superdetail the kit if you so desire.
Though this kit is Out Of Production (OOP) it can still be found in some modelers "unbuilt kit collections" and is a good starting point for your C3 project
