Airfix 1/600 Scale HMS Hood
Review by Ian Wilkins

This kit makes up into a large model 430 mm in length. The kit was firsed released in 1960 and for its age is quite acceptable. The 131 components of my early 1988 example are cleanly moulded in a rather hard plastic but show only moderate detail. The parts are generaly good though things like davits, shafts, and masts would be best replaced. The boats are particularly nice, and the kit has no sinkmarks. There are a few ejector marks in awkward places that will need filling. This seems a largely accurate kit that could be built into a really impressive model. I built this one at least four times as a kid. The hull is about 5mm too short or 10 scale feet.
