The Oliver Hazzard Perry class Guided Missile Frigates were designed to be a low cost ASW platform to protect Carriers and Amphibious task forces. Armed with a 3" 62 cal Mk-75 rapid firing deck gun, the Phalanx CIWS, 6 Mk-46 torpedoes, 4 50 cal machine guns, 4 Harpoons, and 36 Medium range Standard Missiles, they are very capable of defending their charges or operating on their own. The long hull version operates two SH-60 LAMPS III ASW Helicopters.

This kit represents the USS Ingraham, the last of the  Perry class frigates launched in 1989. She is referred to as "the Last and Finest" by her crew currently homeported at Everett, Washington and no doubt will serve on the front lines for many more years.

SPRUE A
This sprue contains most of the common parts for the whole class. The bow insert, and many superstructure walls are molded with nice surface detailing. As a bonus there is a Pegasus Hydrofoil Patrol boat included on this sprue.
SPRUE B
This is the standard US Navy weapons sprue with part found on typical warships. It has a variety of weapons, fittings, and even the SH-60 helo. Most of these parts are not needed, but are great to save for other projects.
SPRUE C
The upper and lower hull are included on this sprue. The molding is very nice and detail is good. The hanger deck has one feature that I do not like; raised landing stripes. These should be sanded off as they are way too thick anyway. Beside excellent decals are included for these markings. A stand and lower hull details are also included.

PHOTOETCH FRET
A photo etch fret is included with railings, safety netting, nice replacement lattice masts, and other parts. This is a nice bonus for this kit.
DECALS
Hull numbers, warning circles, battle E, and many other markings are provided. These decals are sharply rendered and you wont need to replace these with other aftermarket ones.
INSTRUCTIONS
A 6 page instruction booklet is included to guide you through a step by step assembly process. A painting guide is included with decal locations noted.
CONCLUSIONS
This kit is another welcome addition to the Modern Sea Power lineup. Dragon has upgraded this kit originally tooled by Skywave to bring it up to the standard of quality we have come to expect. Price should be about $25 retail in the US. The new decals and photo etch fret help to make this a better value for the modern ship modeler.
