Airfix 1/600 Scale DKM Scharnhorst
Review by Ian Wilkins

Another nice kit from Airfix first released in the mid 60s. My example is a first American issue in a very gaudy box depicting a violent battle scene on the lid. The parts in this kit are very crisp and show a good level of detail though there is much room for improvements to be made by the builder. This kit could form the basis of a really excellent model. The crispness of the components makes them excellent candidates for super detailing. There are a few sinkmarks on the deck and these could be hard to fix unless some details like hatches could be glued over the top of them. The kit depicts this ship as she was before her and her sister Gniesneau had raked "Atlantic" bows fitted just prior to the outbreak of WWII in 1939.
