Neptun Metal Model
The Mahan Class was an improvement over the earlier Farragut class. They saw service all over the Pacific in World War Two. They were built with five 5" 38 cal main guns but the number 3 gun was removed in favor of a heavier anti aircraft fit. This ship represents the Mahan as she was modified late in the war. This is a typical armament for mid to late war Mahan and this ship can be used to represent most any of them.

This little miniature measures out at barely 3-1/4", but it includes a lot of detail for a ship so small. This ship is more detailed than many kits in larger scales. It closely matches the drawings that I have and captures the look of the USS Mahan.

Conclusions:

This is another example of Nuptuns extremely fine detailing especially for 1/1250 scale. This is kit #1366a Mahan and sells for 22.35 US. Special thanks to Morning Sunshine Models for the review sample. Check out their complete line of 1/1250 ships on their website.
