| Tom’s Modelworks has sent us a set
of 1/350 photo-etch railings for Japanese battleships
and cruisers, Set 35100, IJN Battleship Cruiser
Rails. These railings are NOT
applicable to either Yamato or Musashi.
The set comes in the usual Tom's Modelworks packaging. |

There is one fret included. As per
Tom's website: 1/350 scale rails
specifically designed for Imperial Japanese Navy
battleships, carriers and cruisers. These rails are
shorter than typical Western navy rails and the main
deck stanchions are spaced differently. There are 7
styles of railing included in the set to fit
virtually any large warship in the IJN in World War
2. The wire rails are relief-etched on one side with
the stanchions thicker than the wire. Not for use on
destroyers or Yamato and Musashi. Also includes
special rail sections for the main deck entryways
and the bow. Footrails are included as well as
vertical ladders. As mentioned above, on one side of the fret, the stanchions are relief etched. Make sure you have that side of the fret installed facing out on your model! |

| CONCLUSIONS | ||||||||
| Another really
nice set of railings from Tom's Modelworks. These
IJN battleship and cruiser railings are very well done.
As with previous sets, I really like the relief etching,
the canvas dodgers, and the attention to detail that is
shown in the different types of rails provided. I also
like how it's called out in the instructions where the
rails are intended to go on the ships. Anyone building
Japanese battleship or cruiser kits, especially some of
the older Aoshima or Fujimi kits, which don't come with
PE, will find these railings extremely useful. Highly
recommended!
This is set 35100 1/350 IJN Battleship Carrier Cruiser rails. It is available directly from Tom's Modelworks, whom I'd like to thank for this review sample, and retails for $20.00 USD. |
