COLOSSUS CLASS PHOTO-ETCH
There is one photo-etch fret in the package.  According to the instructions, the fret was developed "with the cooperation of the Titanic Research & Modelers Association".  The set is specifically designed for the new HobbyBoss Olympic, Titanic and Britannic kits.

Give that a separate set has been released with railings and inclined ladders, this set focuses on other details.  Included in the set are:

  • Stokehold vents (different vents specific to different ships)
  • Wall vents
  • Fidley Grills
  • Crane booms
  • Crane boom supports
  • Ships wheel
  • Life boat protection rails
  • Docking bridge supports
  • Funnel ladders & whistle platforms
  • Skylights
  • Hold covers
  • Life boat gantries for Britannic

Etching is very well done across the entire fret.

INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions are both sides of two pieces of paper. They explain what each part is and where it goes on the model, with a series of photos and or drawings.

CONCLUSIONS
With HobbyBoss having released all three Olympic-class sisters (each in a different guise:  liner, troop transport, hospital ship), the release of this detail set, along with Set 7119 (Olympic class rails), is good news for fans of these ships.

This is another really well done set of photo-etch, with a myriad of details that will help modelers dress up any of the the aforementioned HobbyBoss Olympic-class kits.  The vents, as well as the hold covers, are particularly nice, and the gantries for Britannic are much better than the injection molded parts found in that kit.

The set retails for $16.00 USD, and is available directly from Tom's Modelworks, who'd I'd like to thank for this review sample.   Highly recommended.
