Squadron Hobbies has sent us some new 3D printed parts in their Gold Medal Models range.  This set is 1/350 USN 40mm Quad Bofors, set GM3D350032.

According to Navweaps.com, the 40mm was "Probably the best automatic cannon anti-aircraft weapon of World War II. This weapon was used on almost every major USA and UK warship of World War II and was a very potent AA gun.   The first shipboard quad installation was on the gunnery-training ship (ex-battleship) USS Wyoming (AG-17) on 22 June 1942, and the first quad installation was on the destroyer USS Coghlan (DD-606) on 1 July 1942."

The packaging is a small plastic box, surrounding a printed cardboard insert that describes the contents.  Inside is one print raft with eight (8) 40mm quad mounts.  Each quad 40mm is printed as one piece.  That will ease assembly, but complicate painting.

These quad 40mm mounts have good details, with seats, sights, recoils springs and railings.

Close ups of some of the parts details.

INSTRUCTIONS

No instructions are included, nor are none needed, as these are a complete mount, with no assembly required.
CONCLUSIONS
Another new offering from Squadron Hobbies this time with these USN quad 40mm Bofors, from their Gold Medal Models range of 3D printed accessories.  As with the twin 40mms reviewed previously, these are also well done.  They are nicely printed and have good details.  With eight quad mounts in the set, these are economical as well, retailing at around $1.89 per weapon.  That's less than half the the price, per weapon, as some other manufacturers.

This is Gold Medal Models 1/350 USN 40mm Quad Bofors, set GM3D350032. The set retails for $18.99 USD, and is available directly from Squadron Hobbies - who I'd like to thank for this review sample.   Recommended!
