Tom's Modelworks
1/350 Fletcher Class Destroyer
Square Bridge conversion set
OK you just picked up that new Tamiya 1/350 Fletcher class destroyer and you want to build one of the later versions of the class such as the USS Laws featured in a the Walk around article. Well Tom's Modelworks has saved you a lot of scratch building. This kit includes a nicely shaped square bridge area, with molded on hatches and flag bags. The lower level includes molded on stairs leading to the deck level, but I think photo etched rails would look better here. Depending on how your particular ship was fitted you have a choice of which 40 mm gun tubs to add, as well as the 20 mm tubs usually found on the stern of late war Fletcher's. Instructions are provided to help you along, but since there were so many variations of Fletcher's I would recommend consulting some additional sources.

Besides the bridge and forward superstructure there are a number of additional parts including:
  • 40 mm twin and quad gun assemblies with separate barrels in resin and metal
  • photo etch railing for the quad 40's
  • 3" gun mounts and barrels for post war versions
  • two different style gun tubs (amidships along side the stack or behind the stack)
  • Aft Deck House gun mount
  • 20 mm gun tubs (2 types)
  • gun director mount
  • searchlight platform
