Starfighter Decals 1/700
USS Yorktown Class Markings 1942

Reviewed by Sean Hert

Starfighter Decals latest 1/700 release is a set of markings for the Yorktown Class CV's (Yorktown CV-5, Enterprise CV-6, and Hornet CV-8) in 1942. The decals for the ships include nameplates, flight deck markings, and hull numbers for Yorktown.

The aircraft decals consist of four different diameter national insignia (60", 54" 45" 40") and fuselage numbers for aircraft. These markings are grouped by carrier and battle, including:

  • Air Group Six at Midway and Eastern Solomans
  • Air Group Five at Midway
  • Air Group Ten at Santa Cruz

DECALS

The white decals do not scan very well.

INSTRUCTIONS

The instructions include a color placement guide for the deck and hull markings as well as the embarked air groups. Not only do these instructions concern decal placement, but also make some good recommendations on painting both the carriers and the aircraft.

CONCLUSIONS

A great set for any 1/700 scale Yorktown Class CV, whether it is the Trumpter or Tamiya plastic kit, a scratchbuild or a resin kit. Recommended!

This is set #700-102 with a MSRP of $10.00 USD.
