IJN seaplane
Reviewed by Timothy Dike
Minekaze a new company producing resin kits and accessories has made a bold entry into the ship modeling world. Their release of the IJN Cruiser seaplane took the modeling world by surprise and now many of the detail items in that kit are being offered separately. These Type 94 and 95 float planes are typical of those carried on many Japanese ships during World War Two.
There are two each of the Type 94 and 95 float planes in each set. The set is made up white metal castings and photo etch brass. The metal parts was nicely detailed with nice rib detail on the wing surfaces. Some parts have a light flash on them, but nothing that is difficult to remove.

The metal castings are complemented by the brass photo etch that supplies the struts and propeller details for each aircraft. In addition there are etched brass machine guns to really make the aircraft stand out.

A nicely registered decal sheet supplies the aircraft markings for each aircraft.

Instructions show placement and folding notes for each aircraft. Painting instructions are indicated for typical float plane.

Conclusions:

This set sells for $30 US a little pricey but a must have for any superdetailer who needs some accurate float planes to add to their Battleship or Cruiser. Click the logo for ordering details.
