The Vickers .5" (12.7mm) gun was found in single, twin and quad mounts in the Royal Navy starting around 1932 and lasting throughout World War Two. Supplanted by the more effective 20mm Oerlikon when possible- but there where never enough Oerlikons to meet demand, so the Vickers soldiered on in both the Royal and Commonwealth navies.
