Master Models has released a set of 1/700 masts in their Sea Master Series, for the White Star Line's Olympic-class liners, set SM-700-060. The set includes two tapered masts - a foremast and a mainmast - as well as a turned brass derrick, jackstaff, ensign staff, lamp and bells, plus photo-etch.

THE FRET
The two masts come in a separate small plastic bag.  They are well done, stepped, with a small "knob" on the top of the mast.

In another small bag is the derrick, ensign staff, jackstaff and other brass parts.  Each of the parts is finely machined.    There's also a very small set of photo-etch, which includes the bracket that attaches the derrick to the foremast, the crows nest and the bracket for the running light.  Also included are two rings which surround the metal replacement masts where the go into the deck, to cover the space left by oversized plastic kit masts.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are on both side of a small sheet of paper, showing you how to mount the mast, fold the photo-etch and attach it - and the derrick - to the foresmast, as well as placement location for the jackstaff and ensign staff.
CONCLUSIONS
This set is really well done and, like most Master products I've seen, finely machined.   The masts, derrick and jackstaff all have subtle detail - they aren't just pieces of brass.  These will definitely enhance either your 1/700 RMS Olympic liner, or one of her sisters.   You may have heard about one Olympics sisters, I think they made a movie about her.   I'd love to see Model Master do more sets like this for other classes of ships, it's a really useful after-market accessory.

This is Master Models set SM-700-060, 1/700 R.M.S. Titanic, Olympic and Britannic Masts Set.  It retails for around $14.00.   I purchased mine from the evil auction site.  Recommended!
