Hasegawa 1/700 IJN Destroyer Yugumo Class Linoleum Deck Masking Sheet QG70

Rounding out Hasegawa’s support for its new 1/700 Yugumo class destroyers is a full deck mask for covering the linoleum covered portions of the deck during main coat painting. The mask comes on a sheet of flexible, thin, vinyl-like material, adhesive backed and die cut to match the perimeter of the linoleum decking on both the forecastle and main decks.

There are cutouts for hawser reels, main turret bases, the foundations for the paravane winch and athwartship depth charge, some hatches, vents and air intakes. Each sheet measures approximately 4-1/4” x 1-3/4” and holds masks for two destroyer kits.

Anything that eases the task of masking off a deck for painting is most welcome in my book, particularly for a small 1/700 kit. This set was courtesy of my wallet, via HobbyLink Japan. The cost, less shipping, was US $5.82. I think that a very cost-effective alternative to my time potentially spent masking the deck.
