Flyhawk 1/700 British 4.7" QF Mk XII in Twin CPXIX Mounting (4pcs)

by Sean Hert

The 4.7" QF gun served on many Royal Navy vessels, primarily destroyers, during World War Two. The twin CPXIX mount was seen on three main groups of ships; the famous Tribal class destroyers, the J, K and N class destroyers and the Abdiel class minelayer cruisers. This was a SP gun, which was found to be detrimental in the war due to evolution of using aircraft against warship during this time period.

Flyhawk has released this upgrade set of guns to allow the RN modeller to improve their 1/700 ships. This set is comprised of 4 resin gunhouses and twin breeches, 8 machined brass barrels and 2 frets of photoetched details, and packaged in a unique plastic clamshell box. The single sheet of instructions is comprehensive, and allows the builder to choose between and neutral and elevated position for the guns, as well as open or closed ports in the shield for the gunlayer.
