Corsair Armada product review
Review by Timothy Dike
The H-34/HSS-2 Choctaw was commonly found on US Navy Aircraft carriers during the 50's and 60's. It was a heavy lift helicopter that commonly saw service in the ASW role on converted Essex Class carriers. This latest Corsair Armada release reproduces this Helicopter in 1/350 scale. The kit includes cast resin landing gear and tail plane and small rotors. The sample picture above show a main rotor cut down from a Tamiya SH-60 kit, that are no rotors included in this kit. If there is sufficient demand for this kit a photo etch set may be made available. The engraving on this kit is really nice with door and panel lines well defined.

For those of you who are bored with WW2 carriers this helo offers an alternative to do a late 50's Essex class CVS conversion. Many of those carriers were modified for the ASW role and carried deck loads of these copters instead of fighters. Now all you need is an S-2 Tracker to go along with them.

Conclusions:

This is set #AC350-002 H-34/HSS-2 Choctaw (two helicopters per set) for $10   This will make a nice addition to your late 50's Essex class conversion. Check the Corsair Armada website for ordering details.
