HISTORY
The RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) is a lightweight, quick-reaction, fire-and-forget missile. It was originally intended as and used primarily as a point-defense weapon against anti-ship cruise missiles. However, it has also been used against air and surface threats.
The RIM-116 RAM was jointly developed by the U.S. and German governments. The Mk 49 RAM Guided Missile Launching System (GMLS) was evaluated on board the destroyer USS David R. Ray in the late 1980s. The system became operational onboard USS Peleliu on November 14, 1992. The RIM-116 RAM and Mk 49 RAM GMLS are fully operational in the American, German, South Korean, Greek, Egyptian, UAE, Turkish and Japanese navies. RAM is deployed worldwide on more than 100 ships ranging from fast patrol boats to aircraft carriers.
Hellenic RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) Launcher
The Hellenic Ship Model RIM-116 Mk 49 RAM Launcher come printed on two print rafts stored in a zip lock bag inside a plastic clam shell box. You get a total of eight launchers with four each in either a stowed position or elevated firing position. Each RAM launcher is one complete piece, so no assembly is required, and come on the print raft with a few thin attachment points. You must need to remove the launcher from the print raft, clean up any remnants of the attachment points, paint it and attach it to your model. Each launcher is very well detailed, with grab handles on the base and hinges for the doors and the recessed circular covers for each missile port on the missile housing.

This accessory set from Hellenic Ship Model is very well done and easy to use. The set provides four turrets, which is a relative bargain for the price of €12.00 or about $14.11 US. This breaks down to €3.00 or $3.52 each. It will greatly enhance any 1:350 scale ship model that is fitted with a 5"/54 Mark 42 gun turret. This set is available directly from Hellenic Ship Models (https://www.hellenicshipmodel.gr), and is also available in 1:35, 1:48, 1:72, 1:144 and 1:200 scales. My thanks to Kostas Kokkinos for providing the review sample.
