Combrig 1/700 Heinkel HD.55 Soviet KR-1 Floatplane

Reviewed June 2016
by Timothy Dike
The Heinkel HD 55 was a German flying boat produced in 1930 for Soviet Navy warships. Designated KR-1 these aircraft operated on the battleship Parizhskaya Kommuna and the cruisers Chervona Ukraina, Komintern, Krasny Kavkaz, and Profintern. They were used until 1938 when they were replaced by newer types.

This Combrig kit includes two aircraft constructed of resin and photo etch.

The fuselage, engine, and outrigger floats are nicely cast in resin.

A photo etch fret is provided for the wings, and struts.  Relief etching is used to define the panel lines.
The instructions are a single page with an exploded view and assembled view.
It's nice to see Combrig providing these aircraft is separate sets.  They can be used to update your pre war Soviet navy. This set is also available in 1/350 scale.

Thanks to Combrig for the review sample.
