HISTORY

The Classic Warships's series Warship Pictorial is out with the latest volume- #39- covering German Battleships Scharnhorst, Gneisenau, Bismark and Tirpitz from 1939 through 1945.

The book has many never before published images of these ships, and some clearer versions of some of the more uncommon shots that have been previously seen.

The pictures cover the usual topics of interest, with a nice emphasis on the camouflage schemes used, as well as identifying the evolution of embarked equipment on these capitol ships.

Scans are reduced quality and the captions have been blurred.
Conclusions:

The photos have both close-up details and distant shots showing camo patterns throught the careers of these ships. Obviously, Tirpitz receives greater coverage than Bismarck, given the differences in lifespans between these ships. Scharnhorst and Gneisenau receive similar coverage, with what seems to be a slight nod to Gneisenau. Nevertheless, many great shots of all four ships- recommended!
