If you have considered converting the Trumpeter Nimitz class carriers into a more modern version of the class, you need some good reference material. Ray Bean, professional photographer by trade, has compiled this photo CD of Nimitz class detail pictures. This CD is the companion to Volume 1 and covers the rest of the ships in the class. It has over 190 high resolution JPEG images of the Lincoln CVN-72, Carl Vinson CVN-70, Roosevelt CVN-71, Harry S. Truman CVN-75, and Ronald Reagan CVN-76.

The images on the CD are print quality and range in size from 168 kilobytes to 3 plus megs and sizes typically around 3600 pixels wide. To view the images just pop in the CD and display them using your computers file browser just like images on your hard drive.

Strangely, I could not open the folder for the Lincoln. There are 31 pictures of the Vinson, 38 of the Truman, 57 of the Reagan, and 39 of the Roosevelt. There are many outstanding shots, some rarely seen. This CD demonstrates the many (often subtle) differences between the sister ships of the class.

CONCLUSIONS

Currently Ray D. Bean has 20 volumes of photo CD's available. There are other titles on the rest of the Nimitz class and many other US Navy subjects. If you like to superdetail your ships, then this is just the tool you need. This one runs $20 and is available direct from Still Motion Photographics. A must have for the Nimitz class model builder.
