Ray Bean is back with Volume 54 in his photo DVD line. This one is just in time to help you detail your post war Essex class carrier. It covers the Essex class from Korea to Vietnam actually from 1946 to 76. There are over 340 images covering these post war carriers. All of the Essex are included, some more than others. Straight deck and angled deck, SCB 235S and 27C as well as other variations are all featured. The photos include everything from overall views at sea to close up labeled views of the various parts of the ship. Aircraft operations including a wide variety of aircraft from the obscure AJ-1 Savage to the more common types like the A-4 Skyhawk. The photos are labeled with notes that modelers and historians alike can appreciate.
A sampling of images is shown below. Please note that all these have been reduced in size and formatted for the web.
The images on the DVD are print quality and range in size from 168 kilobytes to 3 plus megs and sizes typically around 3600 pixels wide. To view the images just pop in the DVD and display them using your computers file browser just like images on your hard drive.
The image on the right was resized to make it easier to view on the web. I cropped out a section of the image at it's original size to show a portion of the image actual size relative to the resized web version. As you can see the image is large enough to make out the small details.
A nice bonus feature is the collection of old Revell Essex class box art. A neat trip back through memory lane.
Currently  Ray D. Bean has over 45 volumes of photo CD's and DVD's available. There are other titles on other Navy subjects both modern day and all the way back to the Dreadnoughts. If you like to superdetail your ships and need a good reference, then this is just the tool you need. This one is Priced at $27.00, direct shipping from Canada postage paid, extra overseas. It is available direct from Still Motion Photographics. A must have for the Essex class model builder.
