David Doyle Books has released a new title.  This one covers the USS New York, (BB-34), a New York-class battleship, which served during World War II.   This book is 112 pages long, and includes a history of the New York, from keel laying through her disposal as a target ship.  There are more than 230 photos, including some in original color.
This book is laid out with an introduction and six subsequent chapters:

 - Chapter  1 - Construction
- Chapter  2 - Launching, Fitting Out, and Commissioning
- Chapter  3 - To War
- Chapter 4 - Reconstructions
- Chapter 5 - To War Again
- Chapter 6 - The Atomic Age

The book is full of great photographs,  including many pictures that I have not seen before.   If gives a good cross section of New York's service, with lots of photos of her with cage masts, and many photos of her post reconstruction rebuild, all the way through to her sinking.   She also wore a colorful variety of camouflage schemed during World War II, and this book has many detail shots showing off the different measures.

Conclusions:

This is another  really nice, high quality, hardcover book from David Doyle.  It has lots of interesting info - like the fact that she was re-crewed after the first atomic bomb test! - and tons of fine pictures, including some original World War II color photos.   I think both naval history buffs and modelers will really like this book .  For modelers, there are lots and lots of detail shots for those wishing to build a model of New York.  Highly recommended.

This is USS New York, BB-60 - Legends of Warfare, by David Doyle.   Published by Schiffer Publishing, ISBN 978-0-7643-5824-1.   The book retails for $19.99, and is available to order directly from David's website.   Thanks to David Doyle Books for the review sample.
