QE2 in Malta

Queen Elizabeth 2 stopped over at Malta today (11/18/08)on her last cruise on the way to Dubai.

I happened to be in Valletta this morning and saw her lying at her berth. She was tied up just below the public garden at the top of the bastion wall in Floriana. The berth is only some 100 yards or so from the bastion itself. This is an ideal vantage point being really high up above the sea and yet close to the vessel. If anything it is too close.

I couldn’t fit the whole ship in the viewfinder! However I managed to get a few close-ups.

Boy, QE2 is one pretty ship. She was even prettier before they raised the extra couple of decks ahead of the funnel; still, a real beauty- nothing like the floating shoeboxes of today!
