An Artisan on the Isiand of Mykonos, by Bill Keough

On a recent trip to Greece, my wife and I were having dinner in the Little Venice area on the Island of Mykonos, when directly in front of our table the doors of a garage opened up and a man took out a table and started working on small wooden sailing ships. The garage was his workshop and when I saw the inside, I nearly fell off my chair. After dinner, we appropached the gentlemen and asked if I could take some pics and he agreed. I am married to a Greek so there were no problems in communication. We were able to ascertain that he has been scratchbuilding in wood for nearly 50 years and has done some commissioned work for the Athens Naval Museum. If any one is ever in Mykonos, please try and see this fellow. He doesn't speak English, but he is very personable once he knows you are a model ship enthusiast. Enjoy the few pics I was able to take
