Cleopatra’s Needle is a trio of obelisks (London, Paris, NYC) created in Egypt in 1540 BC. The obelisk in London is located on the Victoria Embankment and was presented to England in 1819 by Mehemet Ali (Viceroy of Egypt) to commemorate Nelson’s victory at the Battle of the Nile in Aboukir Bay Aug 1-2 1798 and Sir Ralph Abercromby’s victory at the Battle of the Nile.
